Job Summary

VCU Health is seeking experienced Clinical Nurses to join our team in the Neuroscience ICU Unit. As a Clinical Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and accurately document direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
  • Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
  • Assist the healthcare team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
  • Recognize changes in patient situations and intervene appropriately.
  • Provide direction, education, and assume leadership responsibilities at the unit level.
Requirements
  • Clinical Nurse I: Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state.
  • Clinical Nurse II: 12 to 24 months RN experience.
  • Clinical Nurse III: 3 years of clinical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical Nurse I: Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in an acute care setting.
  • Clinical Nurse II and III: Academic healthcare experience; experience with similar patient populations in an acute care setting.
Education and Training
  • Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state's Board of Nursing.
  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Lifting 20-50 lbs.
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances.
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, and reaching.
  • Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, and logical thinking.
