Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at The SKY Family YMCA. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for conducting light custodial services and performing routine maintenance and repairs on our buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor and major repairs of all buildings and equipment
  • Replace broken windows, repair doors and door locks, and install window blinds
  • Install flooring of all types
  • Repair plumbing fixtures, including toilets, sinks, and urinals
  • Replace and repair receptacles, switches, lighting fixtures, and ballasts
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required
  • Perform basic carpentry, including ceiling tile replacements, plaster and drywall repairs, and interior and exterior painting
  • Perform light custodial duties and general clean-up of all areas of the building as directed
  • Perform basic grounds maintenance as needed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair
  • Good skill in the use of hand and power tools
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas
  • Knowledge of basic cleaning protocols and chemicals
  • Able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence

Certifications and Training Requirements:

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class
  • Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols
  • Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
