Job Summary

The RN Shift Supervisor is a key member of our team at Osceola Medical Center, responsible for overseeing hospital staff, patient care, and facility operations. As a shift leader, you will work under the direction of a clinician and be responsible for directing and conducting administrative functions in the absence of the department manager.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure adequate staffing and assign nurses to patients
  • Ensure nursing operational standards are met and provide reports on productivity, quality, and customer service metrics
  • Train new team members and evaluate nurses' performance
  • Inform family members about medical procedures and doctors' instructions
  • Handle complaints or other issues and establish a compassionate environment by providing psychological support to patients, family, and friends
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current Wisconsin RN licensure or ability to obtain
  • 1+ years' experience as an Emergency Department RN, required
  • 3+ years related experience in a hospital setting, preferred
  • BLS certification, required
  • ACLS certification (within 3 months of hire), required
  • PALs or ENPC (within 3 months of hire), required
  • TNCC (within 6 months of hire), required
  • NRP (within 3 months of hire), required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrates OMC's behavioral standards and values in daily work
  • Ability to plan, direct, implement, and evaluate the nursing care delivered to a variety of patients
  • Provide crucial conversations and feedback to staff based on performance
  • Maintain the integrity of highly confidential business and patient information
  • Display and promote high standards of ethical conduct and behaviors consistent with organizational standards
  • Exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving, continuous improvement, and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records
  • Ability to anticipate, understand, and manage patient expectations and provide consistent delivery of services
  • Clearly and effectively convey information to patients
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and handle multiple tasks/projects concurrently
  • Ability to consistently carry out job responsibilities, able to acknowledge when commitments are not met, and take appropriate steps to fulfill responsibility
  • Ability to analyze, identify, and solve problems while using sound judgment
