Position Overview:

The Scheduled Maintenance / Mechanic Trainee DOT will report to the Service Center Manager and will work closely under the guidance of a Field Service Mechanic (FSM). The role involves assisting the FSM with significant repairs on customer equipment. Responsibilities include aiding in tasks such as disassembling, overhauling, and reassembling machinery. The trainee will collaborate with the FSM to enhance repair efficiency.

Additionally, the trainee will gather and relay essential information to the Service Center Manager, including customer details, machine descriptions, malfunction specifics, and time records for accurate billing and account management.

Throughout all responsibilities, the Scheduled Maintenance / Mechanic Trainee is expected to uphold the company's reputation by maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring the service vehicle is kept clean and organized. The incumbent should demonstrate courtesy towards customers and their staff, exhibiting a proactive and positive work ethic.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, including comprehensive lubrication, oil changes, filter services, and brake adjustments, which encompass:
    • Maintenance of the coolant system, including draining and refilling.
    • Inspection of all vehicle fluids and execution of general repairs as needed.
    • Monitoring oil levels and assessing the condition of tires, air filters, windshield wiper fluid, brake fluid, and engine coolant.
    • Replacement of worn or damaged belts, hoses, spark plugs, or windshield wiper blades.
    • Documentation of all maintenance activities performed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area as required.
  • When time allows, accompany field service mechanics to job sites as a trainee to gain knowledge and experience, with the potential for future advancement to a Field Service Mechanic role.


Qualifications:
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including stooping, bending, climbing, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 60 lbs.
  • Possession of natural mechanical aptitude; prior mechanical experience or training is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential, as the employee will operate a company vehicle and must meet corporate insurance requirements.
  • Must be eligible for DOT certification (must be at least 21 years old to qualify).


Education:
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
