Job Summary

West Suburban Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Officer to maintain a safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for patrolling the facility, reporting inconsistencies and discoveries, and providing general security services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol and Inspection: Conduct regular patrols of the facility, including hallways, stairways, parking areas, and other public areas to identify and report any suspicious activities, safety hazards, or criminal activity.
  • Compliance and Enforcement: Ensure compliance with post assignments and enforce parking regulations, identification policies, and package pass policies.
  • Assistance and Support: Provide escort services to employees, patients, and visitors upon authorization, and assist in investigations as requested by the Supervising Security Officer or Director.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation of security activities, including incidents and investigations.
  • Communication and Representation: Represent the Hospital in court as needed and perform dispatcher duties or other assignments as required.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred. Preferably one-year experience in a security-related field, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Certifications and Training: IAHSS Basic Certification or 20-hour or more Security Training Certificate preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to remain calm, take command, provide guidance, make sound independent decisions, and resolve conflicts during security incidents and emergency situations. Excellent verbal communication skills.
