The Finance Office at SUNY Oswego is currently seeking to fill a full-time position for a Budgeting and Financial Analyst.

Role Overview:

The Division of Finance & Administration at SUNY Oswego is looking for a Budgeting and Financial Analyst. This role is pivotal in contributing to the development, analysis, and reporting of budgets across the campus community. The Budget Office oversees the management of the University's state-allocated budgets, which exceed $110 million annually. The selected candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance understanding of fiscal status while ensuring meticulous attention to detail in auditing allocations, expenditures, and revenue balances. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical capabilities and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team on special projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the oversight of daily budget operations
  • Support the formulation of the college's operational budget
  • Monitor and forecast personal service expenditure commitments
  • Accurately track position vacancies, manage FTE levels, and report any discrepancies
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic and ad-hoc budget and financial reports for distribution among internal and external departments
  • Review budget and financial reports to identify variances across all budget categories
  • Conduct reconciliations as necessary

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a finance-related field
  • 1 to 3 years of financial experience in a business office environment (e.g., accounting, billing, budgeting, finance)
  • Strong oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Access)
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Experience in Higher Education Finance, particularly within SUNY
  • Experience in developing reports and conducting ad-hoc analyses
