Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented individual to design, implement, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases. The successful candidate will have expertise in database lifecycle management, including installation, updates, and maintenance. They will also be responsible for database design, implementation, and maintenance, as well as supporting customers with specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of Microsoft SQL Server from install to maintenance
  • Design, implement, and maintain MS SQL instances and databases
  • Support customers with specific requirements and support
  • Daily monitoring of database backups and alerts using tools like SSMS
  • Create and maintain database backups
  • Restore databases as needed
  • Investigate and resolve security alerts
  • Implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Regular auditing to ensure adherence to guides
  • Application of updated guides as needed
  • Creating and updating database documentation
  • Updating existing configuration documentation
  • Generating updated database dictionaries
  • Updating system documentation relating to database installation and maintenance
  • Provide support to development teams in database-related matters
  • Work with developers in implementing engineering change proposals (ECPs) relating to database
  • Automate recurring database tasks
  • Implement and oversee database security measures to protect sensitive data
  • Monitor database performance and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal system efficiency
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree and five (5) year of relevant experience; Masters and three (3) years of relevant experience; 4 years of additional experience in lieu of a degree
  • Active Secret clearance (US Citizenship required)
  • Expert degree of experience in SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL programming and scripting is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Knowledge of Windows Server environments
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot database-related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space, and other resource contention issues
  • Full understanding of the flow down of Interface Design Documents to Database Data Definitions
  • Self-reliant to learn and understand new technologies and new features of existing technologies
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables
  • Familiarity with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Experience related to cloud databases and migration of traditional on-prem databases to the cloud
  • Experience using Git for version control
  • Experience in other tools used to propagate database changes to multiple instances/databases
  • Experience with database replication, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server
  • Experience in GraphQL, Apache Nifi, and/or managing input/output of Data sources from other systems
Target Salary Range:

$120,001 - $160,000

SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.

SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
