As an MRI Technologist at UNC Health, you will play a critical role in conducting procedures and tests using MRI equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data. This position requires a strong understanding of MRI technology, cross-sectional human anatomy, and the ability to operate complex equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Identification and Safety: Verify patient identification, obtain patient history, and ensure patient safety throughout the imaging process.
- MRI Technology and Operations: Demonstrate expertise in MRI technology, including the operation of MRI scanners, automatic injections of contrast, and laser printers. Maintain active status with the ARRT by accruing CE's when needed.
- Contrast Administration: Administer oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establish intravenous lines, and administer IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures.
- Image Transfer and Quality Control: Maintain a thorough understanding of PACS, transmit images to QC, UNCH's EMR, EPIC, and PACS, and verify image transmission. Complete, modify, and/or cancel orders in a timely manner to avoid duplicate billing.
- Other Duties: Perform tasks in a timely manner, run the schedule to create a consistent workflow, volunteer for challenging tasks, and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Education: Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science or completion within 3 months at time of application.
- Licensure/Certification: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligible. Requires advanced certification in MR within one year of employment.
- Professional Experience: Prior education, training, and experience that provides the ability to perform the assigned tasks.
