Department Overview


Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) stands as a prestigious institution committed to excellence in healthcare, education, research, and community outreach.

The Casey Eye Institute, part of the Department of Ophthalmology at OHSU, is in search of a full-time Comprehensive Ophthalmologist for its Astoria clinic.

The chosen candidate will become part of a well-established academic practice, engaging in clinical care, research, and educational activities, alongside an academic appointment.

They will collaborate with a dedicated team of 12 optometrists and 52 ophthalmologists, providing specialized services across various domains. The ideal applicant should possess board certification or be board eligible and must hold valid medical licenses in Oregon and Washington.


Key Responsibilities


Under the guidance of the Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology, the primary duties of this position focus on supporting OHSU's missions and objectives.

Responsibilities encompass:

  • Educating medical students and staff
  • Delivering high-quality clinical care
  • Participating in community service initiatives

The main emphasis will be on providing comprehensive ophthalmology services at the designated satellite location.


Required Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • Current MD license and completion of an accredited residency program in ophthalmology
  • Board certified or eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Exceptional clinical and patient assessment skills
  • Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and communication abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, innovative thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proactive, meticulous, and adept at multitasking
  • Ability to enhance clinic performance
