Key Responsibilities
  • Protect Life and Property: Safeguard students, staff, and visitors from harm, and prevent unauthorized access to school premises.
  • Report Incidents: Document and report any incidents, accidents, or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
  • Screen Visitors: Greet, register, and screen visitors at the school entrance, and assign visitor passes as needed.
  • Patrol School Premises: Regularly patrol school buildings, grounds, and parking lots to deter, detect, and report any security breaches.
  • Monitor Student Movement: Supervise student movement throughout the school and its properties, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Notify administrative staff, police, fire department, or other authorities in case of emergencies or security incidents.
  • Operate Security Equipment: Use and maintain security equipment, such as metal detectors, and conduct searches when directed.
  • Participate in Drills: Assist with fire drills, lockdown drills, and other emergency preparedness exercises.
  • Attend Training Sessions: Participate in staff development training sessions to enhance security skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with building custodians and other staff members to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.
Requirements
  • Experience: Three to five years of experience as a Security Officer or in a related field.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • License: Valid driver's license.
  • Residency: Must be a City of Springfield resident.
