The Role
The Communication Skills Development Assistant will deliver speech and language therapy services to students in grades K-8 across various KIPP SoCal school locations. The focus will be on enhancing students' oral communication abilities to facilitate their access to educational programs. This position reports to the Specialized Services Program Manager and receives guidance and oversight from a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct therapy to students under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Conduct therapy sessions in both individual and small group formats.
  • Implement and adhere to established treatment plans.
  • Document student progress towards specific goals and objectives.
  • Track services using Wellilgent.
  • Engage in IEP meetings for students within the assigned caseload.
  • Collaborate with educators to ensure students achieve their IEP goals.
  • Provide tailored classroom strategies to enhance communication skills.
  • Maintain communication with families regarding student progress towards IEP objectives.
  • Contribute as a member of the regional Special Education team.
  • Manage special projects related to Special Education initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or completion of an accredited SLPA program is required.
  • Valid California Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License is mandatory.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with students in an educational environment.
  • Proven success in working with students.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple school sites.
