General Job Overview

The Cashier plays a crucial role in managing transactions related to the sale and return of products.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement
  • Represent Westlake Ace Hardware positively at all times.
  • Welcome customers upon entry and express gratitude as they leave.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor while assisting customers and collaborating with team members.
  • Efficiently manage customer checkout lines to minimize wait times.
  • Promptly and courteously respond to phone calls and inquiries.
  • Report any issues that require managerial intervention.
  • Continuously enhance product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
  • Support pricing, stocking, and packaging of merchandise.
Cash Register Operations
  • Adhere to all cash register transaction protocols.
  • Ensure accurate balancing of the cash drawer.
  • Implement any promotional programs as directed by management.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Store Presentation and Maintenance
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout areas and store entrance.
  • Assist in stocking and organizing impulse purchase displays.
  • Ensure promotional materials are readily available for customers.
  • Keep necessary forms and supplies well-stocked.
  • Contribute to the visual merchandising of the store.
  • Request assistance for cart pickups as needed.
  • Notify management regarding merchandise returns.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a cashier or in customer service is preferred.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25 lbs), and climb as needed.
Compensation Information

$16.90 per hour
