Sterilization Technician Job Description

At METROWEST ORAL SURGICAL ASSOCIATES, INC., we are seeking a highly skilled Sterilization Technician to join our team. As a Sterilization Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and sterilize all instruments for daily use, ensuring they are properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Collect and sort used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for decontamination.
  • Operate and maintain decontamination equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly.
  • Prepare and package decontaminated supplies for sterilization, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality.
  • Examine supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized, and report any issues or problems with sterilization equipment.
  • Sterilize, prep, wrap, and organize equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver all necessary equipment and instruments for procedures, ensuring they are properly sterilized and ready for use.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory and supplies, ensuring we have the necessary equipment and materials to meet our patient care needs.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution preferred.
