Occupational Therapist Role Overview

As an Occupational Therapist at ProHealth Home Health & Hospice, you will play a vital role in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a compassionate nature, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

About the Job:

This is a full-time position working indoors in Agency offices and patient homes, traveling to/from patient homes. The Occupational Therapist will be supervised by the Director of Clinical Services/Nursing Supervisor and will supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and Home Health Aides as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administers occupational therapy to patients in their place of residence, following physician orders and plan of care under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services/Nursing Supervisor.
  • Improves or minimizes residual physical disabilities of the patient.
  • Returns the individual to optimum and productive living within the patient's capabilities.
  • Participates in patient care planning with other home care personnel.
  • Provides prescribed occupational therapy.
  • Directs and supervises personnel as required.
  • Takes initial history and makes an initial evaluation.
  • Performs all skilled procedures.
  • Consults with physicians regarding treatment changes.
  • Writes reports to physicians on patient progress.
  • Instructs patients/family members in home programs and fine motor movement exercises.
  • Completes an initial evaluation, plan of care, and goals for patient approval.
  • Recertifies treatment with a physician every 60 days.
  • Writes progress notes and reevaluations as necessary.
  • Presents in-service to Agency staff and assists in evaluating patient function.
  • Helps develop and revise patient care plans.
  • Prepares clinical and progress notes.
  • Advises and consults with family and Agency personnel.
  • Participates in in-service programs and QAPI activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy (OTR) from an accredited college or university.
  • Current licensure in Occupational Therapy (OTR) issued by the state board of occupational therapy examiners.
  • At least 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist in a similar setting.
Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $90,000 per year, based on location and experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
