Job Summary:

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Professional, also known as an Echocardiography Specialist, is a critical member of our team at UVA Health. This role requires a high level of expertise in providing diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive echocardiograph imaging, demonstrating cognitive skills and technical abilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive echocardiograph exams, adhering to established standards and protocols.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies in contrast echocardiography, including LVO Doppler enhancement and MCE shunt evaluation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and optimal outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Meet the education requirement for Echocardiography Sonographer certification with either CCI or ARDMS.
  • Hold RCS or RDCS with CCI or RCVT with ARDMS certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Possess American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping, and traveling.
  • Exhibit strong communicative, auditory, and visual skills, with attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 100lbs, with potential exposure to chemicals, radiation, and blood/body fluids disease.
