About the Role

Green Mountain Power is in search of a dedicated Protection & Control Electrical Engineer to innovate, develop, and sustain electrical control and protection systems or components that meet stringent specifications, with a strong emphasis on safety, efficiency, reliability, quality, and sustainability. This position demands a comprehensive set of technical and administrative skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with our Engineering and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and assess protective relay settings for transmission and distribution networks, substations, and generation facilities.
  • Generate and distribute settings letters along with the foundational documentation.
  • Maintain and analyze system short circuit models, conduct short circuit studies, and investigate system protection disturbances.
  • Formulate and uphold testing and commissioning documentation.
  • Create, design, and sustain Protection/Control system schematics for Green Mountain Power's distribution, transmission, and generation assets using computer-aided engineering and design software. Oversee and coordinate relay switchgear manufacturing, construction, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure adherence to specifications, codes, and design standards.
  • Provide operational assistance in the development of Operational Oneline Diagrams, commissioning guides, and other related tasks.
  • Lead project scoping for both small and large initiatives, assisting in budget estimations by calculating labor, material, and construction costs.
  • Support our customers during adverse weather conditions, which may require extended hours and working in challenging environments.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in utility relay control systems.
  • Familiarity with Utility protection and control systems is advantageous.
