Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Nursing Faculty member to join our team at Arnot Health. As a Nursing Faculty, you will play a critical role in teaching nursing courses and implementing the curriculum in cooperation with other level instructors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in course design, implementation, and evaluation to achieve the objectives of the level and the progress of the students.
  • Direct and supervise students in the nursing process in classroom and clinical settings.
  • Participate in theory and clinical teaching utilizing a variety of teaching strategies to facilitate student achievement of course and level objectives.
  • Serve as a role model in a clinical specialty demonstrating competence in clinical judgment, selected technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base.
  • Actively pursue educational and professional development activities to foster own personal and professional growth and maintain knowledge of current educational principles.
  • Ensure that patient care/nursing practice in the clinical setting meets both safety and risk management standards and legal requirements of licensing boards and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in planning for capital budget items.
  • Monitor usage of equipment and supplies to help defray increased budgetary costs.
  • Actively participate in faculty and Medical Center committees and chairs committees as delegated.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Medical Center and school of nursing policies and apply the same in decision making.
  • Maintain school standards to adhere to the standards set forth by the New York State Department of Health, The National League of Nursing, and the National Program of Noncollegiate Sponsored Instruction, and ACEN (accrediting body).
  • Actively participate in research activities to promote growth and development of the program of studies and nursing as a profession.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance the educational process and comply with standards of nursing care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely review and documentation of student achievement of course and level objectives.
  • Participate in faculty development programs actively sharing in the exchange of ideas and information in a manner which promotes the growth and development of the group.
  • Maintain appropriate yearly competencies.
  • Demonstrate awareness of self-learning needs and seeks ways to meet these in order to maintain competency and respond to new clinical and school demands.
  • Counsel students academically and professionally and may serve as advisor for individuals and groups as delegated or selected.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and personnel with the Medical Center and other clinical settings.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and members of the health team.
  • Assume accountability and responsibility for self and is self-directed in meeting established goals and objectives.
  • Actively participate in professional and community activities and organizations.
  • Assist Systems Director of Education/SON in identifying level goals and in developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of action to achieve these goals.
  • Participate in total program evaluation to identify changes, which would benefit the educational process.
  • Be able to identify potential or actual problems, plan appropriate actions, and evaluate effectiveness of plan.
  • Remain aware of current nursing research and implement findings in nursing practice and education as applicable.
  • Cooperate with Systems Director of Education/SON in long-range planning for the School of Nursing, in concert with school philosophy, Medical Center mission, and goals.
  • Provide an environment conducive to the development and maintenance of professional standards of excellence.
  • Be familiar with and demonstrate Quality in Action principles and participate in the process as appropriate.
  • Be responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.
  • Provide age-appropriate care to neonate, infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer's needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Medical Center.
Requirements
  • Current RN registration in the State of New York.
  • Master's Degree in nursing required.
  • Demonstrated competence in a specific area of nursing practice and theory.
  • Demonstrated competence in principles specific to the teaching/learning process.
Physical Demands

Light physical effort required. Moderate-heavy objects lifted, some reaching and stooping. Required to be on feet much of the time.

CPR Requirements

Basic Life Support required. ACLS, PALS required for faculty teaching in ER, ICU. NRP required for those teaching in OB.
