Senior Tax Professional Job Opportunity

Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Professional to join our team for project-based work related to FDIC bank receivership. This is a remote job opportunity with occasional travel required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax laws, including income tax and employment tax filings.
  • Execute day-to-day requirements and performance objectives set forth in the Task Order.
  • Perform complex tax-related tasks and provide technical assistance to contractor staff.
  • Implement technical direction from the Project Manager.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
  • Authorized to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service or international equivalent.
  • At least ten years of complex tax consulting and compliance experience with a public accounting firm and/or financial institution.
  • Working knowledge of tax statutes, regulations, case law, and guidance specific to receiverships and financial institutions.
  • Experience in preparing federal and state income tax returns, including consolidated and stand-alone entities.
  • Ability to articulate complex tax information and concepts.
  • Capacity to analyze corporate financial statements and tax records.
  • Ability to understand and prepare complex tax workpapers.
  • Knowledge of IRS examination, collection, appeals, correspondence, and return processing procedures.
  • Experience interacting with federal, state, and local taxing authorities.
  • Ability to coordinate tax compliance activities in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Ability to research complex federal, state, local, U.S. Territory, and international tax issues.
  • Fluent in tax compliance applications such as CCH Axcess, One Source, and Intuit.
