Job Purpose:

The primary aim of the Teacher Speech Pathologist Special Education is to assess and support students as outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments and reevaluations in the areas of articulation, language, fluency, and voice.
  • Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation/eligibility (MET) team to relay evaluation findings.
  • Engage in Eligibility and IEP meetings with parents and special education service providers to review evaluation outcomes, establish eligibility, and discuss the IEP.
  • Handle data collection, parent interviews, assessments, and report writing related to evaluations.
  • Administer Hearing and Vision Screenings as required.
  • Deliver therapy to students as specified in their IEP.
  • Enhance professional skills through participation in training sessions and educational courses.
  • Implement the district's educational philosophy and instructional objectives through teaching practices.
  • Execute District initiatives relevant to the students' age, grade, and/or placement.
  • Regularly assess student progress and provide reports in accordance with district and state policies.
  • Ensure the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist administration in enforcing policies and rules governing student behavior and classroom management.
  • Be available to students and parents for educational purposes outside of regular instructional hours when necessary.
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings as required; serve on staff committees.
  • Take responsibility for personal professional growth, staying updated with literature and research, and attending relevant professional meetings and conferences.
  • Maintain accountability for any district-owned fixed asset assigned to the employee, ensuring proper use according to district policies.
  • Undergo periodic evaluations in line with state and board policy procedures.
  • Uphold confidentiality at all times.
  • Consistent, reliable, in-person attendance is a critical function of this role.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director, or as established by district policy.
  • Comprehend and adhere to the Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, and all other district, state, and federal policies and procedures.

  • Education Level: Master's degree in Language Speech Pathology
  • Certifications: MDE License
