Job Description

Role Overview

The Learning Specialist will be a highly skilled and experienced educator who will play a key role in shaping the teaching and learning practices within the school. This individual will be responsible for modeling excellence in teaching and learning, mentoring and coaching teachers, and facilitating school-based professional learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching and Learning Expertise
    • Develop and implement high-quality teaching and learning programs that promote improved student outcomes.
    • Model exemplary classroom practice and provide feedback to teachers on their teaching and learning strategies.
  • Mentoring and Coaching
    • Provide guidance and support to teachers to improve their teaching and learning practices.
    • Facilitate peer collaboration and professional learning communities to promote sharing of best practices.
  • Professional Learning and Development
    • Design and deliver professional learning programs that address the needs of teachers and the school.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of professional learning programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Work collaboratively with school leaders and teachers to develop and implement school-wide initiatives that promote improved student outcomes.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to teachers to promote a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.

Requirements

  • Qualifications
    • Provisional or full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a Victorian government school.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Deep knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning practices that promote improved student outcomes.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to promote a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.

Working Arrangements

This is a full-time position based at Western Autistic School. The successful applicant will be required to work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to promote a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.
