We are seeking a skilled Referral Specialist to join our team at Trinity Health Corporation. As a Referral Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless communication between our medical clinic and referral authorization department.
Key Responsibilities- Gather and Verify Referrals: Work closely with physicians, patients, and payers to gather, verify, and process referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications.
- Communicate with Patients: Provide detailed information and answers to patients' questions regarding their healthcare plan, as well as billing and insurance clarification questions.
- Coordinate Appointments: Set up appointments, coordinate clinic visits, and make special arrangements such as transportation and interpreter services.
- Coordinate Referral Flow: Ensure a valid referral is secured for clinic patients by coordinating the flow of information between the medical clinic and referral authorization department.
- Enter Referrals and Documents: Enter referrals, document communications and actions into the system, as appropriate.
- Notify Physicians and Patients: Notify physicians and patients when referrals are denied or additional information is needed.
- Develop and Maintain Database: Develop and maintain a database of referral physician offices preferred by each physician within the clinic.
- Assist Practice Manager: Assist the Practice Manager with complaint resolution and solutions related to patient referrals.
- Perform Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or physician.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: 2 years of progressively responsible related experience in a healthcare environment required.
