Job Overview

The Electronic Technician Maintenance III role is integral to the Army Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations Maintenance Program (ATMP) at Fort Irwin, CA. This position is primarily focused on supporting Live Fire operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Electronic Technician Maintenance III will:

  • Execute complex tasks involving the replacement of target components, wiring circuits, and performing repair functions that often require advanced problem-solving skills beyond standard manufacturer manuals.
  • Receive technical direction from supervisory personnel.
  • Utilize extensive technical knowledge of electronic principles to diagnose and rectify equipment failures.
  • Manage the storage, consumption, and accountability of all issued parts and materials essential for range maintenance activities.
  • Document and maintain accurate maintenance records, ensuring all corrective actions for work orders are logged into the AWARE Management Information System (MIS).
  • Communicate maintenance challenges and operational updates with supervisors and senior technicians.
  • Safely operate company vehicles, navigating established range roads and trails using basic navigation tools, including maps, GPS, and radio communication systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance on company vehicles and support quality, security, and safety training initiatives.
  • Protect all assigned equipment from loss, theft, and damage.
  • Assist with military Rotational Training Unit's MILES installation and de-installation tasks.
  • Possibly take on lead responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications

To be considered for the Electronic Technician Maintenance III position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in electronic equipment maintenance, repair, and installation.
  • Experience with military range targetry equipment is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must possess a Secret Security Clearance and an access permit as mandated by local law enforcement and security agencies.
  • Ability to obtain a Government Common Access Card.
  • Valid Class C license, California driver's license, and NTC post driving privileges are mandatory.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Complete a company driver's certification course within 90 days of hire, demonstrating navigation skills in NTC's operational training area under various conditions.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding technical manuals and documents.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
