Key Responsibilities- Perform radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries.
- Operate radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images of the body.
- Ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care by utilizing efficient and safe processes.
- Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimal views of specified areas of the body.
- Determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and body portion involved.
- Move imaging equipment into specified positions and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patient bedsides.
- Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
- Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians.
- Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment.
- Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
- Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
- Orient new staff and train students.
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California)
- Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California)
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California)
- Basic Life Support
- California Mammography Certificate (when required for the position)
