Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Signal Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and operation of traffic signals and intelligent transportation systems in the Culpeper District. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with established safety standards, VDOT policies, and procedures, as well as coordinating the workload of staff and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with technical and engineering staff to facilitate the operation and maintenance of the district's transportation network.
  • Oversee consultants and contractors providing systems support and services.
  • Ensure team members are trained and proficient in new traffic management technologies and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with established safety standards, VDOT policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate the workload of staff and contractors.
Requirements
  • Ability to physically perform a hands-on inspection of signals and components.
  • Knowledge of various traffic control devices and traffic signal maintenance and operations.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple assignments and competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Progressively responsible experience in signal maintenance.
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Electronics or related fields.
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Level I or II technician certification.
  • Substantial electrical or signal experience.
