Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate ultrasound-imaging equipment to acquire images and provide an initial interpretation of exams to physicians.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during exams, obtaining relevant patient history and preparing patients for procedures.
  • Review patient charts to obtain pertinent clinical history, test results, and laboratory data.
  • Deliver patient care under the scope of your license and training, utilizing universal precaution techniques and safety protocols.
  • Perform ultrasound studies on premature infants in intensive care units, demonstrating knowledge of illnesses related to this patient population.
  • Stay up-to-date on developments and trends in imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment, participating in education programs and meeting state and national requirements for continuing educational credits.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an AMA-accredited Ultrasound Program with a minimum of 12 months' full-time clinical ultrasound experience.
  • Meet the requirements and successfully complete the ARDMS certification (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) or equivalent.
  • Registration in all institution-accredited specialties, with completion of additional specialties as required by the accreditation agency.
Working Conditions

Normal teaching clinical hospital environment, with exposure to high-frequency sound waves, possibility of contact with infectious diseases and bodily fluids, and standing and walking most of the day.
