Patient Care Specialist Neuro ICU

As a Patient Care Tech in our Neuro ICU, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to ensure that our patients receive the highest level of care and attention.
Responsibilities:
Meet the comfort and hygiene needs of patients by providing care services such as bathing, oral hygiene procedures, hair care, bed pan/urinal use, skin care, and garment, linen, and bedding changes.
Distribute meals and beverages, take vital signs, and collect lab specimens.
Assist with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, set up and prime IV tubing, 12 lead ECG, simple tracheostomy suctioning and care, change dressings, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and obtain wound and throat cultures.
Assist physician and professional staff in equipment supply and set up.
Assist with ambulating patients with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer/transport procedures.
Perform required documentation and communicate in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements.
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, employee, and department information to ensure patient rights.
Utilize time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes.
Requirements:
High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education.
Less than one year of previous job-related experience.
Certified Nurse Assistant, BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA.
Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry or verification of an equal or higher educational level in a clinically focused program.
