About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sushi Lead Cook to join our culinary team at Wegmans. As a Sushi Lead Cook, you will be responsible for leading a team of prep and line cooks in the Sushi department, ensuring the development and education of the culinary team, and managing day-to-day sushi operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Merchandising and Quality Control
    • Focus on company standards regarding merchandising, highlighting quality, freshness, and uniqueness of products
  • Culinary Excellence
    • Follow recipes and proper cooking techniques to ensure we are consistently showcasing our high standards and giving our guests meals they can't find elsewhere
  • Customer and Employee Education
    • Share your knowledge and passion for food while educating customers and employees
  • Team Management
    • Manage employee performance by providing resources, training, feedback, and development opportunities

Requirements

  • 2 or more years' experience working as a prep and/or line cook
  • Experience leading a team
  • Enthusiasm for and knowledge of relevant products and services
  • Knife skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years' experience making sushi and other types of Japanese cuisine
  • Highly proficient with cutting and working with whole fish
  • Associate's degree in Culinary Arts
