Surgical Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Operating Room by assisting nursing personnel in providing quality care to patients.

• Assist the circulating nurse in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures, including gathering instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Verify the sterility of supplies and equipment, and ensure that all instruments are properly cleaned and sterilized.
• Participate in surgical counts and ensure that all equipment is functioning properly.
• Assist the surgical team in maintaining a sterile field and taking immediate action to correct any breaks in sterile technique.
• Collaborate with the surgeon to ensure proper labeling of all specimens from the sterile field.
• Confirm all implants are correct and not expired prior to accepting them on the sterile field.
• Ensure all fluids are labeled on the sterile field.
• Participate in turnover activities and break down the setup to prepare instruments for sterilization.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion from a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist, or a certified surgical technologist (CST) credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), and maintains annual NYS required annual Operating Room CEU credits.
• OR Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing or of a Nursing Vocational or Nursing Technical school, and current license to practice as a Practical Nurse in New York State, and maintains annual NYS required annual Operating Room CEU credits.
