Medstar is seeking a highly skilled Utilization Review Specialist RN to join our team. As a Utilization Review Specialist RN, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the most appropriate and effective care possible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Patient Care: Determine and review ongoing medical criteria standards and benchmarks to ensure that patients receive the most effective care possible.
  • Coordinate Patient Transitions: Coordinate patient transitions in accordance with utilization review guidelines and admission criteria, through the appropriate services.
  • Communicate with Clinical Staff: Communicate and consult with clinical and utilization review staff regarding patient progress and movement through the system.
  • Plan for Patient Discharge: Plan for patient discharge, making all necessary arrangements, contacts, and completes placement prior to discharge.
  • Provide Education and Support: Provide education to patients, families, and staff regarding continuing care options and provide extensive clinical support to families in crisis.

Qualifications
  • Education: ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • Experience: 1-2 year's utilization review experience in acute medical inpatient setting.
  • Licensure: Active MD RN License or Active Compact State RN required.
