Position Overview: The Retail Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring effective management of the sales floor, processing area, and donation center. This position assumes full responsibility for retail operations during the absence of other management personnel.

  • Adhere to attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills relevant to the role.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries and complaints, fostering a positive service environment.
  • Assist in the training, supervision, and mentoring of retail associates regarding store policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and stock merchandise on the sales floor effectively.
  • Enhance sales through strategic display setups and merchandise arrangements.
  • Process cash and credit transactions accurately, providing change and receipts as necessary.
  • Open and prepare the store for business in the absence of senior management.
  • Close the store, ensuring cash reconciliation with daily sales reports and securing the facility.
  • Maintain accurate records of store operations, including daily sales, cash deposits, and opening/closing reports.
  • Oversee the sales floor, processing area, and donation center to ensure operational accountability.
  • Communicate progress, concerns, and issues to the Store Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to team discussions.
  • Monitor customer behavior within the store and report any suspicious activities to management or security.
  • Perform duties of retail associates as needed.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Execute other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Manager and/or Assistant Manager, supervise employees within the assigned store/facility. Responsibilities include training staff, planning and directing work, ensuring cash accountability, and safeguarding company assets.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of organizational policies and compliance.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to them.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English effectively.
  • Familiarity with retail operations and customer service standards.
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics, accounting, and cash management.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and varied schedules.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

  • Ability to interact positively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The role requires regular use of hands and arms, with frequent walking and occasional standing for extended periods. Work is primarily conducted indoors in a retail environment with regular public interaction. The position may require occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs and exposure to outdoor conditions.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening. A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with two years of retail experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
