Key Responsibilities
  1. Process new DME orders from referral sources, ensuring medical necessity and accurate information is delivered to relevant departments.
  2. Review medical records for documentation of diagnosis, notes, and equipment ordered, verifying insurance benefits and out-of-pocket expenses with customers.
  3. Respond to customer inquiries and equipment orders by researching and documenting accounts, creating delivery documentation as necessary.
  4. Assist customers in a caring and knowledgeable manner, representing Health First as a skilled healthcare professional.
  5. Create billing documents and follow up on outstanding documentation in a timely manner.
  6. Coordinate delivery of equipment with DME Technicians and Supervisors.
  7. Contribute to a collaborative culture and positive work environment.
  8. Assist in over-the-counter sales and rentals, identifying needed equipment and supplies, and instructing customers on safe and proper use.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of customer service experience.
  • Successful completion of Level II background screening.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, customer focus, communications, problem-solving, decision-making, and adaptability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Working knowledge of medical insurance and medical terminology.
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting at a computer for long periods.
  • Occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to tolerate long periods of computer time.
  • Hand/wrist dexterity for data entry.
