Necropsy and Histology Technician Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Necropsy and Histology Technician to join our team at Integrated Resources, Inc. (IRI). The successful candidate will be responsible for performing accurate and high-quality necropsy/histology study work for rodent and non-rodent safety studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform necropsy/histology study work in compliance with study protocol, SOPs, GLP regulations, EHS standards, animal welfare regulations, and departmental policies/procedures.
  • Collect and process pathology data for rodent and non-rodent safety studies.
  • Ensure proper supplies and equipment are available and suitable for study conduct functions.
  • Use, maintain, and calibrate equipment, such as balances.
  • Troubleshoot and solve equipment/technical problems associated with necropsy/histology components of study conduct.
  • Communicate with management, study director, comparative medicine, and support personnel to ensure compliance with all protocol-driven activities and high-quality animal welfare practices.
  • Perform ex vivo work and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Physically perform technical procedures that may require lifting, sitting, standing, walking, and bending.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years applicable experience; or associate's degree/HT, HTL with 2-3 years applicable experience; or B.S., Biological Sciences (or equivalent) with 1-year applicable experience.
  • Preferred: > 7 years of relevant in necropsy and/or histology study conduct experience, HT (ASCP) certification or eligible A.S., Biological Sciences (or equivalent) with > 3 years of relevant necropsy and/or histology experience, HT/HTL (ASCP) certification or eligible.

Working Conditions:

The position requires working with NHP cells or tissues, respirator use, and performing ex vivo work. The successful candidate must be able to wear appropriate PPE and physically perform technical procedures that may require lifting, sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
