Production Operations Supervisor

Mittera Group is in search of a Manufacturing Supervisor to oversee our production operations. This pivotal role entails leading and guiding press teams to ensure they adhere to efficiency and quality benchmarks that align with client specifications. The Manufacturing Supervisor will also be responsible for training and developing press crews, coordinating production efforts with prepress and postpress departments, and ensuring compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new personnel within the department.
- Manage the daily workflow and operations of the press department.
- Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
- Address disciplinary actions and terminations in line with company policies.
- Monitor press operations and review printed materials to ensure they meet and exceed production specifications.
- Authorize product quality after verifying proofs for ink coverage, density, alignment, and registration.
- Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure production requirements and schedules are met satisfactorily.
- Coordinate staffing to fulfill quality and production needs without excess personnel.
- Maintain and oversee the completion of necessary documentation, including daily production records, maintenance requests, and performance records.
- Track press speeds, waste, and labor efficiency.
- Communicate any significant downtime to the scheduling department.
- Assist operators in the coordination of preventative maintenance for press equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 to 5+ years of experience as a press operator.
- 1 to 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of press operations and functions.
- Mechanical aptitude is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage projects independently.
- Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Basic math skills for practical problem-solving.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and production-related software.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and focused on quality and safety.
- Ability to use proper body mechanics for pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, and bending.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Requires manual dexterity and coordination.
- Near visual acuity is necessary.
- Ability to navigate the production environment safely.
- Must maintain professionalism in high-stress situations.
This role involves both office and production environments. The office setting is typically quiet with controlled temperatures, while the production area may be loud and require hearing protection. Exposure to various elements such as chemicals and dust may occur, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be necessary for specific tasks.
