Job Overview

POSITION: Volunteer Park Host

ORGANIZATION: City of Lebanon

ROLE STATUS: Volunteer

SALARY: Unpaid Volunteer

OBJECTIVE: Engage in various responsibilities as a park host, contributing to the preservation of the park while ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Reside within the campground and adhere to all organizational rules and regulations.
  2. Inform campers of minor infractions and suggest necessary corrective actions; provide them with park regulations and encourage compliance. In case of persistent issues, escalate to park personnel or law enforcement as needed.
  3. Act as a liaison between park visitors and park management.
  4. Promptly report maintenance concerns to park staff for swift resolution.
  5. Assist guests by offering information regarding park amenities, regulations, camping options, and notable attractions.
  6. Ensure adherence to campground and park regulations while understanding the rationale behind these guidelines.
  7. Set a positive example by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and following all regulations.
  8. Maintain cleanliness in restrooms, showers, and communal areas, ensuring they are serviced regularly.
  9. Manage the sale of shower tokens.
  10. Utilize a web-based reservation system to manage park bookings and monitor upcoming reservations to prepare for incoming guests.
  11. Handle park inquiries and manage reservations as required.
  12. Keep track of occupied and reserved sites, oversee campground traffic, and guide visitors to available sites.
  13. Regularly collect litter, including trash around disposal areas, and empty full receptacles as necessary.
  14. Conduct weekly clean-ups of fire pits and barbecue areas, ensuring they are free from debris.
  15. Perform additional tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  2. Possess a self-contained recreational vehicle, with proof of maintenance and operational status.
  3. Provide and maintain insurance documentation for the RV and vehicle on site.
  4. Pets are permitted, provided they comply with park regulations and have current vaccinations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge: Basic proficiency in computer usage, telephone communication, and cash handling.

Abilities:

  1. Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  2. Represent the organization positively in all interactions.
  3. Create a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
  4. Fulfill the essential functions of the role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical and mental demands necessary for successful performance in this role include:

  1. Occasional sitting, standing, and movement, requiring mobility.
  2. Ability to lift materials weighing up to 20 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  3. Manual dexterity and coordination for operating standard office equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily outdoor settings with typical recreational noise levels. Flexibility to work in varying weather conditions is necessary.

SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Parks Crew Chief.
