bJob Summary:/bbrbrPenske Refrigeration Technicians diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment with a primary focus on refrigeration unit maintenance equipment designed for commercial trucks and trailers. brbrbMain Responsibilities:/bbrbr Perform all levels of maintenance services, with a focus on refrigeration unit maintenance equipment designed for commercial trucks and trailers.brbr Test lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic test equipment.brbr Read complex schematics associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.brbr Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order.brbr Maintain work area appearance and safety.brbr Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure they are working properly.brbr Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.brbr Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.brbr Provide additional support regarding preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as required by location management.brbr Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.brbrbQualifications:/bbrbr 6 years of practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required.brbr High school diploma or equivalent required.brbr Vocational/Technical or certification preferred.brbr Specialized training and experience in the overhaul of refrigeration components required.brbr ASE Certification preferred.brbr 608/609 certifications preferred.brbr Proficiency in the use of all necessary tools of trade required.brbr Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred.brbr Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook required.brbr Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment is required.brbr The associate will be required to understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management.brbr The associate must be able to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies; including but not limited to the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practice.brbr Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.brbr As this position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles, it is regulated by the DOT and requires a current driver qualification file to be maintained as required by the role. The driver qualification file includes: an annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records request from prior employers in the last 3 years. Additionally, CDL holders will have a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and subject to a FMCSA Clearinghouse review.brbr Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.brbrbPhysical Requirements:/bbrbrThe physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
