Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technician to join our team at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. As a key member of the perioperative team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective completion of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the operating room and patient for surgical procedures by applying principles and techniques of asepsis.
  • Set up sterile equipment, instruments, drapes, and solutions, and assist with scrubbing and preparation of the sterile field.
  • Provide safe handling and care for instruments and specimens in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Operate sterilization devices, including autoclaves and other types of sterilizers, following manufacturers' instructions.
  • Identify emergencies and initiate or participate in the appropriate response.
  • Stock and replenish the operating room with new sterile items and check equipment to ensure it is working properly.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a surgical technology program accredited through the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology (ARC-ST) or successful completion of formal on-the-job training that provides the skills necessary to receive Tech in Surgery Certification through the National Center for Competency Testing.
  • Six months of operating room work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Current certification through the Association of Surgical Technologists (if classified as Surgical Technician, Certified).
  • Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
