Position Overview

The Transportation Coordinator/Driver is responsible for the safe loading, transporting, and unloading of patients for medical appointments and recreational activities, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license or commercial driver's license in the current state, with a satisfactory driving record as per organizational standards.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or geriatrics is preferred.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-inspections of vehicles prior to use.
  • Monitor and ensure regular vehicle maintenance (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations).
  • Make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Understand and comply with laws, regulations, and guidelines governing operations in a post-acute care environment.
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive information.
  • Adhere to company policies, including those related to harassment and compliance.
  • Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the organization's Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load, transport, and unload patients.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients.
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients when necessary.
  • Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Utilize reasoning skills and good judgment in various situations.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Possess the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
