Position Overview
You will take on the role of a Sustainability Engineer within the Naval Facilities Engineering Command.

Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include the programming, planning, and execution of various projects, whether conducted internally or through contracts, to ensure adherence to environmental compliance standards as dictated by federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal Navy policies.

You will also be responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting environmental compliance assessments and audits of operations to verify conformity with established standards for relevant environmental programs.

In addition, you will formulate Navy policies and guidelines regarding pollution control in collaboration with federal, state, local, and international environmental regulatory officials.

You will disseminate directives, correspondence, and communications to ensure that operational units are informed of the latest regulations, standards, and requirements impacting the relevant environmental programs.

Furthermore, you will create instructions and guidelines for the applicable Navy environmental initiatives within your area of responsibility.

Qualifications
To qualify, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience should include:

  1. Identifying and resolving environmental issues utilizing engineering concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques.
  2. Applying contemporary developments in environmental engineering to evaluate environmental impacts, develop contingency strategies, design containment facilities, and initiate remediation efforts for hazardous spills.
  3. Producing analytical reports that consolidate findings and evaluate recommendations and data.

Educational Requirements
Applicants must meet the basic educational requirements as outlined by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). This includes successful completion of a professional engineering degree from an accredited institution or equivalent qualifications.
