Sanitation Operator

The Sanitation Operator is a critical role in our Sycamore, IL operations, responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. This includes all aspects of the sanitation process, including chemical safety, standard maintenance, and assisting team members.

• Support Tate & Lyle's EHSQ policies and procedures in routine, non-routine, and emergency conditions.
• Notify supervisors or EHSQ committee members of any spills, equipment malfunctions, environmental conditions, or management practices that could represent an existing or potential safety hazard or significant environmental impact.
• Perform environmental, health, and safety monitoring and inspections according to job responsibilities and submit required records.
• Support lock tag, confined space, hot work, and work permits.
• Perform all job functions/activities with a commitment to a strong safety mindset and compliance with all outlined safety policies.
• Minor disassembly and reassembly of equipment for washing.
• Full wet washing of production rooms and equipment.
• Completing of daily, weekly, monthly Master Sanitation Schedule tasks.
• Model Tate & Lyle values within the Sanitation Team.
• Comprehend and adhere to all applicable site policies and procedures.
• Direct and subsequently audit area work that requires permits and safety oversight.
• Perform and execute outlined standards for housekeeping and GMP, and properly document.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager to help resolve technical problems and improve operational performance.
• Accurately document required food safety, quality, and sanitation information.

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience required.
• Previous experience with food manufacturing wet cleaning with use of chemicals preferred but not required. We are able to provide all necessary training for the role.
• Committed to our customers through ensuring compliance with all applicable GMP and food safety policies and procedures.
• Able to communicate openly, honestly, and directly in a non-aggressive fashion with all members of the plant team.
• Goal-oriented and focused on continuous improvement of themselves as individuals and the overall operation of the area.
• Dependable and punctual in meeting expectations for attendance and performance.
