We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Fleet Technician III to join our team at Sysco. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our vehicles.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify potential issues and recommend preventative maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues with diesel engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
- Work with senior technicians to develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and maximize fleet efficiency.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless communication and coordination of maintenance activities.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments and technologies to continuously improve maintenance processes and techniques.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in diesel mechanics or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy-duty fleet maintenance and repair, with a focus on diesel engines and equipment.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel, ignition, and exhaust systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve maintenance goals and objectives.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and management.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent exposure to mechanical equipment, tools, and chemicals. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, with minimal supervision, and will be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
