Payroll Analyst

Job Summary:
This role encompasses a variety of tasks associated with payroll management for the institution.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with all biweekly and monthly payroll cycles, ensuring that garnishments, common remitter, and general deductions are processed accurately and on time in collaboration with the Shared Service Center.

This position acts as the primary contact for Time and Absence matters, ensuring that all time entries and absences are approved promptly. Responsibilities also include monitoring, reviewing, and addressing Service Now Tickets, providing training to all employees, and participating in testing new processes as they are introduced.


Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing payroll functions related to both hourly and salaried staff, which involves running weekly queries to confirm timely approval of time and absences.
  • Communicating with managers and time approvers regarding any unapproved time entries or missed punches.
  • Sending reminders for upcoming payroll processing deadlines.
  • Delivering training sessions on payroll procedures to university staff as required.
  • Assisting in various payroll processes including Bi-weekly, Monthly, Off Cycle, and Emergency Payrolls.
  • Uploading and entering benefit adjustments during payroll processing.
  • Generating reports and updating absence records for late approvals.
  • Supporting the Payroll Director with mandatory User Acceptance Training related to new updates and processes.
  • Serving as the point of contact for inquiries and problem resolution for all employees involved in monthly and biweekly payrolls.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by department leadership.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

An Associate's degree from an accredited institution with five years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with two years of related experience is required.

Other Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational and analytical abilities are essential.


Preferred Qualifications:

A degree in accounting, business, or a related field is preferred. Experience with complex HR/Payroll systems, particularly PeopleSoft, is advantageous. Familiarity with higher education or public sector environments is also desirable.
