Job Title: Animal Welfare Specialist

The Davis County Government is seeking a dedicated Animal Welfare Specialist to join our team in Fruit Heights, Utah. As an Animal Welfare Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing behavior management plans for animals in our care, providing training and enrichment activities to enhance their adoptability and well-being.

About the Job
  • Develop and implement behavior management plans for animals in our care.
  • Provide training and enrichment activities to enhance animal adoptability and well-being.
  • Assist with adoptions by ensuring proper matches with potential adopters.
  • Provide ongoing behavioral support and guidance to staff, volunteers, and adopters.

Salary: $21.86 - $27.82 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.

Requirements
  • High school graduation (or equivalent) plus three (3) years of full-time employment as a professional animal trainer.
  • A certification in animal behavior from a recognized and credible source, such as IAABC, CCPDT, or Karen Pryor Academy.
  • Prior work experience in an animal shelter or rescue setting is preferred.
