Position Overview

Under the supervision of the department manager and lead technologist, the CT Imaging Technologist is responsible for executing a range of procedures utilizing ionizing radiation. The specific responsibilities are outlined below in accordance with departmental protocols. A positive contribution to interpersonal relationships among all stakeholders is expected, in alignment with Prisma Health's values. Conducts CT imaging as instructed by the department manager. Engages with physicians and other relevant personnel in a professional manner. All team members are expected to embody and uphold Prisma Health's core values: Empower health. Serve with empathy. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately identifies patients and their corresponding procedures. Communicates effectively with nursing staff or physicians regarding patient needs. Notifies nursing staff of patients requiring IV sedation or biopsies. Completes CT and female questionnaires for all patients aged 12-55 years. Positions patients correctly for all CT imaging procedures to ensure optimal visibility of anatomy. Must be well-versed in scanning protocols and able to perform procedures accurately using the protocol reference guide. Ensures timely completion of studies and delivers them to the radiologist for interpretation promptly. Records the completion time of procedures on the patient board. Archives films and submits them to the radiologist for review. Prepares the examination room with necessary supplies and maintains cleanliness and stock levels at all times. Ensures that adequate supplies and linens are always available. Cleans tables and trays after each patient. Utilizes proper techniques for IV contrast administration, confirming IV functionality with saline prior to injection. Must be proficient in operating imaging workstations, including 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction. Responds appropriately to emergency situations and codes. - 50%
  • Clearly explains the CT imaging process to patients and/or their family members. Collects completed questionnaires and relevant medical history from patients, nursing staff, or physician offices. Keeps patients and families informed of any delays. Provides training to co-workers and students. Assists fellow technologists when not engaged in assigned CT tasks. - 20%
  • Acquires requisitions and verifies appropriate clinical information. Charges for procedure supplies and surgical codes upon completion of exams. Records no-film badge wear and fluoroscopy time. Adds surgical charges as necessary. Operates the PACS system effectively and verifies studies before archiving. Reports equipment malfunctions to the supervisor and in-charge technologist, documenting confirmation numbers. Completes all necessary forms for procedures. Fills out contrast sheets for all patients receiving IV and rectal contrast. Ensures CT forms are completed for all patients. Collaborates with radiologists to determine suitable protocols for each exam, ensuring correct protocols are followed as prescribed. Demonstrates recognition of anatomy and pathology relevant to the scans being processed. Performs warm-up calibrations as required. - 20%
  • Ensures correct protocols are utilized as prescribed by the radiologist. Procedures must be executed as directed, with accurate scans performed. Demonstrates recognition of anatomy and pathology as it relates to the scans being processed. Maintains the necessary competency for working in the CT department. Conducts point-of-care testing as needed. - 10%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certification Program - Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • No prior experience required.

In Lieu Of

Team members in this role may be grandfathered from the minimum requirements listed above, including obtaining CT Registration pending state and regulatory guidelines.
