The Clinical Education Specialist is responsible for developing staff throughout Baptist Health by providing expertise as an Educator, Consultant, Facilitator, Change Agent, Leader, and Researcher. This role supports the development of new and current staff, fosters empowerment, and the development of knowledge through the use of evidence-based practice, relationship-based care, SMART principles, and principles of adult learning. The Clinical Education Specialist utilizes the Benner Model to move staff through the continuum from novice to expert. This occurs by facilitating the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of competency, continuing education, and leadership development. In addition, the Clinical Education Specialist will serve as a role model of professional behavior.

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required, with demonstrated evidence of experience in teaching and/or education of at least 2 years in the clinical or academic setting; minimum 5 years of clinical experience is required in the area of served (Critical Care, Med/Surg, Women's Services, Pediatrics, or Emergency Department).
  • Knowledge of principles of adult education is essential. Evidence of commitment to continuing education is required. Ability to work independently and in a team environment is necessary. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is required. Ability to develop curriculum and teach in a classroom setting is essential. A Registered Nurse (RN) License and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required; certification as appropriate to the clinical setting served is also necessary.
  • Provides simulation and orientation education. Critical Care experience is preferred. Simulation experience is also preferred.
