Position Overview:

The Ski & Snowboard School Training Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Training Manager and Lead Trainer in fostering a positive training environment across the Ski and Snowboard Schools. This is accomplished through collaborative efforts with supervisors, managers, and the leadership team to ensure training quality, staffing recommendations, and the delivery of high-caliber ski and snowboard training. This position reports directly to the Training Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Training Manager and Lead Trainer in organizing schedules for trainers, new hires, and returning staff for mandatory training and ongoing education events. Ensure follow-up on scheduling and adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors and Managers to arrange specific training sessions tailored to departmental needs, including cross-departmental training as required.
  • Participate in essential weekly meetings focused on training, supervisor/manager discussions, and one-on-one sessions with the Training Manager.
  • Communicate effectively and promptly with employees, supervisors, and managers regarding training plans, providing regular updates as information evolves.
  • Offer mentorship and professional development support to emerging trainers, contributing to the growth of the Northstar ski and snowboard training team.
  • Serve as a resource for instructors, aiding in their professional growth and career advancement.
  • Lead or facilitate indoor training sessions, including new hire orientation, returning staff training, and continuing education programs.
  • Guide new and returning employees through multi-day training initiatives.
  • Monitor, document, and evaluate training programs for the ski and snowboard school and other department employees participating in assessments.
  • Ensure the safety of training groups by exemplifying and teaching the skier and rider responsibility code at the highest standard. Select appropriate terrain that aligns with participants' abilities and the daily training agenda.
  • Provide immediate, constructive feedback to clinic participants in a clear and relevant manner, relating clinic topics to enhance the guest experience.
  • To lead PSIA/AASI training clinics, maintain current membership dues and educational credits with recognized organizations.
  • Deliver quality lessons to guests during peak business periods for both private and group lessons, adhering to company guidelines and safety regulations.
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating professionalism for new hires, returning staff, supervisors, and management.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Northstar resource and guidelines manual, functioning as a trainer in accordance with established resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Current PSIA/AASI Level 3 or equivalent certification required.
  • Three to six months of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • A minimum of three years as a full-time instructor for a recognized ski and snowboard school.
  • Exceptional communication skills in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Self-management and prioritization skills are essential.
  • Capacity to maintain organized data.
