Grill Master

Job Summary:

As a Grill Master at El Pollo Loco, you will take pride in preparing and grilling our signature "perfect pollo" that has been a customer favorite for over 30 years. Our chicken is our pride and joy, and we're looking for someone who shares our passion for quality and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow company and local health department food handling procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our customers.
• Comply with company safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the kitchen.
• Inspect chicken quality throughout the preparation and cook process to maintain our high standards.
• Follow chicken projections to ensure proper levels of cooked chicken products are available for our customers.
• Receive and cook chicken orders to meet quality standards, and package them for customer pickup.
• Clean and sanitize the entire workstation, including equipment, tools, and storage areas, to maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
• Assist in training new cooks to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the role.
• Collaborate with peers, including hot prep, expediter, and burrito assembly team members, to ensure seamless kitchen operations.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for long durations, with occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Ability to lift objects up to 40lbs, with occasional assistance required for heavier items.
• Ability to work under heavy stress and pressure during peak periods, with exposure to heat, steam, smoke, and cold temperatures.

Qualification Standards:

• CA Food Handler Certificate required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required, but restaurant cooking experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Must be able to observe products and use best judgment prior to presenting them to guests to ensure a high level of food quality is maintained. Kitchen, time-management, and customer service skills are preferred.
