General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) is a leading developer of high-technology systems, including electromagnetic and electric power generation systems.

The company is seeking a software lead to develop embedded software for control systems, requiring innovative approaches to resolve complex engineering problems.

The role involves analysis, investigation, and resolution of embedded software and control system problems with limited direction or oversight.

The software lead will exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives for research, design, review, development, and testing of solutions to advanced technical engineering problems.

Key responsibilities include providing direction to experienced professional staff, investigating issues, documenting findings, communicating status to project management, making technical presentations, and representing the organization as the prime technical contact with customers.

The software lead will also lead a software team to ensure timely completion of development activities, supervise support staff and technicians, and initiate planning of engineering projects.

Additionally, the software lead will perform functional testing of embedded software and control systems, utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.

Requirements include a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline, and progressive engineering experience.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones as a software lead.

They will also have a thorough understanding of software engineering principles, coding languages, and theory, with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts.

General knowledge of related technical specialties such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and systems engineering is also required.

The software lead will be able to work extended hours and travel as required, and experience with algorithm design for target tracking or motion control is a plus.

Able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.

Salary: $116,480 - $208,505
