Job Overview

The Construction Site Laborer is responsible for various tasks within the construction industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with OSHA, state regulations, and all safety protocols;
  • Notify your supervisor or, in their absence, the crew leader or Safety Officer of any issues or safety concerns;
  • Identify and mark utility lines;
  • Proactively assist in setting up and cleaning the work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored;
  • Handle materials by bolting, nailing, aligning, and moving them as needed;
  • Signal construction equipment operators to ensure proper alignment;
  • Transport construction materials such as lumber, pipes, and tools;
  • Excavate holes and trenches using hand tools;
  • Level dirt or materials to meet specified grades;
  • Assist in the positioning, joining, aligning, and sealing of pipe sections;
  • Mix and pour concrete, spread and compact asphalt, and compact dirt using various tools;
  • Support the construction of different structures and forms;
  • Help erect and dismantle trench shoring;
  • Apply protective coatings using brushes or sprays;
  • Clean and maintain the job site, vehicles, equipment, and buildings;
  • Assist in the setup, relocation, and removal of signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices;
  • Perform grinding, sanding, and polishing of surfaces;
  • Measure and cut materials as necessary;
  • Dismantle forms, install pipe hangers, and apply insulating materials;
  • Work as a flagger for traffic control after obtaining certification;
  • Participate in training and informational sessions as required;
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred;
  • At least 2 years of experience in the construction field preferred;
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as required;
  • Ability to follow basic instructions in English is essential;
  • Proficiency in using basic tools is required;
  • Fundamental understanding of construction principles and procedures is necessary;
  • Availability to work overtime as needed;
  • Comfortable working outdoors in high-stress environments with variable weather conditions;
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Experience operating a manual transmission vehicle is preferred;
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Heavy lifting is expected.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform tasks that involve lifting and lowering ramps multiple times throughout the day.


Work Environment:

Moderate exposure to various conditions.

Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.) is expected.

Regularly exposed to outdoor elements (cold, heat, rain, snow, etc.) with a loud noise level.


Compensation: $17 - $25 per hour
