Responsibilities:

* Promote a positive and professional work environment by interacting with colleagues in a cooperative and respectful manner.
* Ensure that specimens are collected and processed in accordance with laboratory guidelines and protocols.
* Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely specimen collection and processing.
* Support the organization's priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
* Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and organize workload, and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity.
* Follow proper protocols for specimen packaging and transport.
* Responsible for specimen accessioning as assigned.
* Demonstrate proper infection control practices, patient identification, and prompt specimen transport.
* Perform drug screen collection and processing as assigned.
* Answer laboratory department phone calls.
* Demonstrate the ability to recognize emergent conditions and react appropriately.
* Provide phlebotomy services in a professional and patient-centered manner.
* Engage in self-evaluation of practice and take action to improve knowledge and skills.
* Retain accountability for the quality of care given to patients.
* Promote service excellence and growth of the laboratory.
* May work with multiple departments within the laboratory or across the hospital/health system.
* Perform arterial puncture as assigned.
* Demonstrate proper infection control practices, patient identification, and prompt specimen transport.
* Responsible for other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

* High School Diploma or Equivalent
* Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience
* Experience working in the clinical setting
