Position Summary:

The primary goal of this position is to assist individuals in securing and maintaining employment while providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge for sustained independence and stability. The Employment Reintegration Advisor will collaborate with clients, employers, and community organizations to develop successful employment pathways aimed at reducing recidivism. This role involves delivering comprehensive employment services, facilitating job placement, and offering support to individuals involved with the justice system in partnership with local probation authorities. The advisor will also conduct workshops and training sessions within correctional facilities and designated community locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with program referrals to assess their interest in employment services.
  • Conduct job readiness workshops both in-custody and post-release, focusing on job search skills, resume development, and interview practice.
  • Prepare educational materials for each workshop session.
  • Deliver group instruction that fosters engagement and productivity among participants.
  • Create and implement tailored vocational assessments, employment plans, and referrals based on individual client needs.
  • Provide both in-person and virtual career counseling, guiding clients on job search strategies, resume crafting, and interview preparation.
  • Assist clients in securing job placements after release, leveraging connections with local employers and community resources.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers willing to hire individuals with criminal records.
  • Offer ongoing support and follow-up with clients and employers to ensure successful job placements and retention.
  • Advocate for clients' needs and connect them with additional community resources or internal programs as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of workshop attendance, client interactions, and services rendered.
  • Prepare and submit case management reports to probation authorities as required.
  • Stay in close communication with referring agents regarding participant progress.
  • Assist in preparing grant reports and managing fund expenditures.
  • Ensure adherence to all funding and program compliance requirements.
Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's degree in behavioral science or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.

Licensure:
Valid California Class C driver's license required.

Experience:
A minimum of three years working with justice-involved populations or in collaboration with courts and probation services.

Must successfully pass a background check and gain clearance for access to correctional facilities.

Knowledge:
Understanding of the challenges faced by justice-involved individuals. Familiarity with Goodwill's mission and operational policies is beneficial.

Proficient in computer technology, including advanced recordkeeping software and job search tools.

Skills:
Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written; basic Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Ability to comply with workforce development and social services program requirements.

Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse client needs, including cultural and economic factors.

Flexibility in service delivery, including availability for community events and services during evenings and weekends as needed.

Work Environment:
The role is primarily office-based but may require visits to various employer sites. Services may be delivered in-person or virtually, depending on current health guidelines.

Physical Requirements:
The position is mostly sedentary, with occasional walking and standing. Lifting and carrying may be required for items up to 25 lbs. Normal communication abilities are necessary to perform job functions.
